True Impact Performing and Visual Arts

Studio History

True Impact Performing Arts (TIPA) was founded to develop Christian character through excellence in arts education while reaching the community for Christ. Owner, Amy C. York, answered God's calling to establish a dance studio that trains the body and mind while nourishing the soul.

The studio was born in Akron OH, in 2002 as Miracles in Motion Dance Academy. At this time, weekly dance classes were held in the social hall at Messiah Lutheran Church. In 2005, Miracles in Motion was relocated to Barboursville, West Virginia. The school opened with 11 students meeting for ballet classes in the gym at the old Covenant School location on Rt. 60. After years of growth, transitions, and God's guidance the school was reestablished as True Impact Performing and Visual Arts in 2011.

TIPA currently offers classes in Creative Movement, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern dance, and Hip hop. The school now boasts a Youth Dance Company that produces two story ballet productions annually and three training programs to suit the needs of every student.

Our training programs are recreational, company, and pre-professional, with students ranging in age from 2 to adult. We welcome recreational students and those with professional aspirations.

It is our priority to serve students with excellence by offering the best in arts education from a Christian perspective. At True Impact, we teach dance as an art form, not a competitive sport. We consider the "process" over "product" and strive to provide training that will encourage our students to become successful regardless of their chosen career paths. We promise to use modest and professional quality dance costuming and we are committed to keeping our content age appropriate and God-pleasing.
